HAVE A PERSONAL PRAYER CULTURE ~ PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you (Jeremiah 29:12). The Lord called us to pray because He planned to answer. It’s therefore important that you have a plan for prayer. If you don’t have a plan for prayer, you’re most unlikely to pray. There’re lots of activities that could occupy your time and prevent you from praying. You have to make deliberate efforts to have a prayer culture and discipline; you could set an alarm system for reminders. Never be too busy to pray. Prayer isn’t only when you want something from God. Prayer is that fellowship with the Lord where you talk to and with Him, and you give attention to Him in your spirit, to hear what He has to say to you. Every Christian must have such times. If you’ve had challenges doing this consistently, you can ask the Lord to guide you in planning your personal prayer schedule. Don’t neglect it. There’re corporate prayer times where you participate in prayer programs and services, maybe in your church or cell group, but that’s different from having your personal prayer schedule. Someone may say, “Well, I pray once a week, not every day.” No, that’s not good enough. Have a prayer schedule for every day, because it helps you have a spiritual consciousness every day. You may then wonder, “How long should I pray?” It’s not for anyone to determine for you how long you should pray, but you’ll know if or when you’re not praying enough, because it’s a relationship between you and the Lord. If you think you’re not praying enough, then add more time. The truth is, the more time you spend in prayer, the more helpful it is to you, because apart from the fact that you’re talking to the Lord, there’s the edification of your spirit that you get from praying. Not only that; there’s also the education of your spirit. No one educates you like the Holy Spirit. In that atmosphere of prayer, He teaches you; He brings you information that enlightens and guides you. THE CORNET DAILY DEVOTIONAL RESURRECTION POWER I Friday 3rd September, 2021 Pastor David Omongole ”…I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ… That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection…” (Philippians 3:8-10 KJV) Paul had a great desire to know Christ and the power of His resurrection; so much so that he was willing to count everything He had ever gained in life as loss. What a wonderful attitude! If someone doesn’t meditate deeply on the Word of God, he will look at the resurrection of Christ as something ordinary. He will know that Jesus was raised up on the 3rd day and that is all he will be thinking about. But there is a lot more to it. Hallelujah! What happened at the resurrection of Jesus Christ? Matthew 27:51-53 tells us that “…the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.” (KJV) Powerful! When Lazarus was raised from the dead, he came out alone; but at the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the power was too much; numerous saints were raised to life. Glory to God! It’s because of the resurrection power that our Lord Jesus is called “…the firstborn from the dead…” (Colossians 1:18 KJV) Prior to His resurrection, everybody who was raised to life, was only raised up physically; they were not raised up from spiritual death (that is being dead in sin). Jesus was the first person to come out of that kind of death. Praise God! Jesus died and went to hell with the sin of the world; but when God raised Him from the dead, He was without sin. He had become one with your sin but the resurrection power separated Him from it; and not only Him but also all those who would believe on Him. Hallelujah! Do you know the big thing? The resurrection power has been given to us now. If you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you have been sealed with the Holy Spirit and He came with the full magnificent power of God! This power resides in you now. Praise God forever more! CONFESSION The same power that raised Christ from the dead dwells in me by the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah! As I commune with the Spirit of revelation, the eyes of my spirit are flooded with light to understand the exceeding greatness of the resurrection power of Christ. I am conscious that the full magnificent power of God separated me from sin; therefore I live a triumphant and victorious life in the mighty name of Jesus, hallelujah! FURTHER STUDY Acts 1:8 KJV But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. 2 Corinthians 5:21 ACV For the man who knew no sin was made sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in him. Romans 6:10-11 NASB For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. (11) Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
